Secret Rooms Road Map
The journey in Secret Rooms is based on real geography. I had to calculate the optimum safe distances the Cartographers could take their horses around the West Virginia countryside each day. One of the double-edged swords of an alternate history is that you have to factor in genuine distances between existing places, you can't just fudge it all the time. The upside is that with these limitations your characters are grounded in a reality that (if played right) makes their conflicts and struggles more tangible.
Elkview is real, Smithers is real, Fayetteville is real, Summersville is real, and most of all, Clendenin is real. The legends of the Mothman, White Tiger and Green Monster are all from that region.
